I have always liked the idea of going on a cruise, but I have to admit, I have hesitated because I worry about feeling confined on board.
I know that might sound a bit strange, but the thought of being surrounded by open water for days is something I have always been unsure about.
That being said, the way you describe the Carnival packages with their entertainment options, dining variety, and excursions makes it sound very appealing!
Do you maybe have any tips or for first time cruisers who might feel nervous about cabin size or finding enough to do on those out at sea days?
I would like to hear more about how maybe Carnival handles that?
I enjoyed reading and look forward to hearing back from you.
Chris
Hi Chris, thanks for your comments. I’ve met very few people who are lukewarm about their feeling about cruising.
People either love it or hate it.
I love it.
My daughter hates it. She’s like you. She didn’t like feeling confined or being on the water. She said as soon as they sailed away, she couldn’t wait to get off the ship.
My girlfriend was aprhensive and I had to talk her into her first cruise three years ago. Before we finished our first cruise together, she was already planning our next one. We’ll be going on her 10th cruise together next month.
I don’t know Carnival has any program to deal with people’s fears.
My recommendation is to start small-the shortest cruise you can find. I started with a four-day cruise and was immediately hooked. There are also 2 and 3 day cruises. You’ll know one way or the other pretty quickly.
My experience is, I forget I’m on the water. The ships are incredible and are like floating cities. I love the sight of the ocean all around me and never get tired of it. I’m a jogger and love jogging on the top deck with the ocean all around me.
When you think about it, living on earth, we are suspended in space. People forget that.
My late father told me that he recommended that before I die, that I try a cruise. It changed his life and it’s definitely changed mine.
If you’re worried about sea-sickness, be sure to take the medicine for it before boarding. I have never felt sea sickness, so I can’t relate to that.
I suggest you try it. That’s the only way you’ll know for sure.
Bob
Well.. I really appreciate you getting back to me.
When you say they are like floating cities I guess the feeling of being confined could be dealt with much easier.
I might try one out. I live in Europe and I have friends in Rhodes (Greece) and they have been urging me to visit them.
So feeling confined on a boat, or sat in a tight seat on an airplane.. I have to say the boat has more chance of me having some kind of experience.
Thanks once again Bob. Was nice of you to reply.
Chris
No problem Chris. I hope you enjoy your first cruise. You can book from my website from any of a number of cruise lines from around the world. Bon Voyage.
